Answer out loud
Good morning. Where did you start your trip today?
Listen to or read the inspector's words, then answer out loud in English with one short sentence that gives the fact.
Example answers describe a fictional trip; use your own facts. The questions and signs are typical examples written for this site: FMCSA does not publish the questions or signs inspectors use. They are built on 49 CFR 391.11(b)(2), the two-step order in FMCSA's roadside English-proficiency policy and the FHWA sign manual, explained in the lesson The Roadside Interview in English. The sign drawings are simplified; real signs follow the state's manual. Self-scores here are a study aid and are never counted as instructor-observed proficiency.
